I highly recommend Gleim. Gleim has the questions, simulations and a very organized way to complete all of the tests. Additionally, I have someone to talk to at Gleim. It is a bargain compared to Becker. However, I find that Gleim’s lectures and books are worthless to. I had to enroll in another course that was very strong in their lectures.

Gleim's strength is also their weakness, especially in FAR. If I had a Gleim question that I had not covered in college, I was in trouble!
Gleim's audio and books are only good for answering their true and false questions; they are worthless as a resource for FAR problem solving.
I tried to compensate for Gleim's weakness by auditing four college accounting classes at a Louisiana state university. However, that was only partially successful. The rigor of the accounting courses at the Louisiana state university that I attended is just not there. I was lucky if the professors covered 2/3 of the material on the FAR exam. Additionally, the professors did not go into the depth that is needed on the FAR exam. I even had one professor say that her accounting class would not prepare you for the CPA exam! Remember, the CPA exam has not lost any of its rigor!
I still like Gleim. I think that they are the best at what they do.
However, I would recommend that the CPA candidate find another review course that offers college type lectures to supplement Gleim.
Do not pick Becker. Becker is a
great review course IF you covered everything in college.
My suggestion is to take Gleim first. Gleim will give you a realistic idea if you can pass the CPA exam, especially FAR.By , At July 8, 2008 5:50 AM

I separate CPA review courses into two parts, multiple choice questions and lectures.
Gleim, Wiley, Becker and Bisk all have the same multiple choice questions. The only question is, "Who has the most organized system for reviewing those questions, and who has the best explanations?" Gleim wins that contest hands down!
The next question is, "Who has the best lectures?" Gleim does not have any lectures.By , At August 11, 2008 7:45 AM

I highly recommend purchasing Gleim’s Test Prep. I cannot imagine doing a CPA review without this valuable tool. Do not waste your money getting Gleim’s audio or books. Reading Gleim’s books and listening to Gleim’s audio are as much fun as reading the dictionary! Becker’s and Bisk’s books and lectures are far superior.

I made a 68 on FAR after spending a year with Gliem trying to prepare for FAR.
I need a teacher! Gleim does not have any lectures. Their audio and books are worthless to me. That is the weakness of Gleim for those of us who need good lectures and good teachers.
I only use Gleim in their Test Mode AFTER I have reviewed the material with Yaeger. I will continue to buy Gleim Test Prep, but I will no longer buy their full online course.By , At November 25, 2008 10:41 PM
